Google’s Game of the Year for 2018 is a quiz based on the most searched terms for the year 2018. First off Google asks for a screen name to help identify you when you successfully answer the 20 questions testing your knowledge of the most popular search terms of 2018. Next, as you answer each question, a barrage of animations erupting from various directions reflect a right or wrong answer:

“How well do you know what trended in Search this year? Let’s find out…”

Alternately, a female or male voice guides you through the whole process. The game uses Google’s WaveNet machine learning technology where “natural sounding synthesized voice [is] made possible.” Pitch and voice speed can be varied.

When you get an answer correct, “that’s right” is proclaimed. Otherwise a distressing “wrong” is sorrowfully pointed out. A correct answer contains further information regarding the subject matter of the search involved. You might even encounter a bonus round in between the standard questions, where you drag around squares left or right to indicate trending less or more search trends for 2018. A final score tally comes after all questions have been answered.

Kind of fun and worth a try for a Jeopardy game type of experience, bells and whistles, and confetti included.
