Google recently signed an agreement with HTC, “a leader in consumer electronics, that will fuel even more product innovation in the years ahead.” Google has already collaborated with HTC previously, on the Google Pixel Smartphone. Also for the last ten years, both companies worked on the products, HTC Dream, Nexus one (2010) and Nexus 9 (2014).
As part of the agreement, a number of HTC employees will become an official part of the Google hardware team. Another agreement condition is the non-exclusive license for HTC intellectual property.
This agreement prefaces the revealing of Google’s second generation products on October 4. Google already introduced its line of Pixel smartphones, Google Home, Google Wifi, Daydream View and Chromecast Ultra last year.
In essence Google concentrates on “core capabilities, while creating a portfolio of products that offers people a unique yet delightful experience only made possible by bringing together the best of Google software—like the Google Assistant—with thoughtfully designed hardware.”
