Acer Invests 10 million in IMAX VR Technology

Recently, Acer announced it was investing 10 million in the IMAX VR Content Fund, “which will support the development of high-quality and immersive VR content.” Acer, along with media and entertainment businesses and organizations, seeks to invest in VR technology and help to improve its quality even more.

Along with investor Imax and partners such as Starbreeze, it is Acer’s “hope to enable engaging and immersive VR experiences in IMAX VR centers and beyond.” During a recent press conference, Acer and it’s joint venture partner, Starbreeze, ” announced that they had begun shipping cinematic StarVR Head-Mounted Displays (HMD) to IMAX Corporation in preparation for the highly anticipated opening of the IMAX VR Center in Los Angeles.”

Acer’s production of VR technology hardware products ranges from “cinema grade HMDs, extending to accessible headsets, and VR-Ready PCs and platforms to power them all.” Acer’s continuing investment in VR technology represents its striving to provide VR users with the ultimate immersive VR experience surrounding them.
