Twenty-five years ago Apple introduced its first notebook. This year Apple introduced what is touted as its most advanced notebook ever:

“With the groundbreaking new Touch Bar, the convenience of Touch ID, the best Mac display ever, powerful performance, improved audio, blazing fast storage and Thunderbolt 3 connectivity in our thinnest and lightest pro notebook yet, the new MacBook Pro is the most advanced notebook ever made.”

The MacBook Pro includes the attributes rigid, dense, thin and light with a metal unibody construction and enclosure design. The 13 inch version is 14.9 mm thin and weighs 3 pounds. Whereas the 15 inch version is 15.5 mm thin and weighs 4 pounds.

Built into the power button, Touch ID , once only available on iPhone and iPads, allows you to “quickly unlock your Mac, switch user accounts and make secure purchases with Apple Pay on the web with a single touch.” Once your fingerprint is registered in your MacBook Pro, complicated algorithms are used to quickly and effectively scan and match it with the “Secure Enclave in the new Apple T1 chip.”

The MacBook Pro display “delivers images that are more vivid, reveal even greater detail and appear more lifelike than ever.” An .88 Retina display features 500 nits of brightness, is 67 percent brighter, has 67 percent more contrast and supports a wider color gamut. The new display saves energy by consuming 30 percent less energy by utilizing “a larger pixel aperture, a variable refresh rate and more power-efficient LEDs.”

The MacBook Pro, compared to previous generations is also the most powerful ever. The range of available processors include “Sixth-generation dual-core Core i5 with eDRAM, dual-core Core i7 with eDRAM and quad-core Core i7 Intel processors…”

As for graphics capabilities, the 13 inch version has Intel Iris Graphics while the 15 inch version has Radeon Pro discrete graphics. Other amenities include “SSDs with sequential read speeds over 3GBps and Thunderbolt 3 which consolidates data transfer, charging and twice the video bandwidth in a single port.”

Additionally, the MacBook features the macOS Sierra, desktop operating system with Siri integration, Universal Clipboard, Apple Pay on the web and Photos. For more information and specs go to Apple MacBook Pro.
