Cisco and Google Collaborating on Open Hybrid Cloud Solution

Open Hybrid Cloud Solution

Cisco and Google are essentially developing a open hybrid cloud experience for customers:

“The companies will provide a unique and open hybrid cloud offering that enables applications and services to be deployed, managed and secured across on-premises environments and Google Cloud Platform.”

Enterprises will have the opportunity to “optimize their existing investments, plan their cloud migration at their own pace and avoid vendor lock in.” The solution will be available for a small number of customers in early 2018 and later in the year with more widespread availability.

Companies will use the open hybrid cloud solution to develop new applications in the cloud or on premises, consistently using the same developer tools, run time, and production environment. Developers will leverage managed Kubernetes, GCP Service Catalog, Cisco networking and security, and Istio authentication and service mesh monitoring.
