Android 7.1.1 Nougat Update

Recently, an Android 7.1.1 Nougat update was released. Android Nougat’s development team describes this achievement: “When we launched Android Nougat, we were excited to deliver even more ways to make Android your own.”

One of the themes permeating this release is gender equality reflected by new emoji that represent the “pivotal roles women play in the world, and represent a wider range of professions for both women and men.” For example emoji include “female welders” and “men getting haircuts.”

Another useful addition to the Android 7.1.1 Nougat update is allowing a user to “send GIFs directly from your keyboard on supported apps such as Google Allo, Google Messenger and Hangouts.”

Ever want to jump directly to a function inside an android app via its icon? App shortcuts allows a similar action by allowing the user to “launch actions on your favorite apps, such as Twitter or Google Maps, by simply long pressing the app icon…all straight from the app icon.”

The following devices are eligible for the Android 7.1.1 Nougat update: The Nexus 6, Nexus 5X, Nexus 6P, Nexus 9, Pix Android 7.1.1 Nougat el, Pixel XL, Nexus Player, Pixel C and General Mobile 4G (Android One) will get an over the air (OTA) software update.” Android Beta Program devices are also included in the update.
