The TIOBE Index for September 2021 has been released. The monthly TIOBE Programming Community index determines programming languages popularity. The ratings originate from the number of skilled engineers world-wide, courses and third party vendors. Search engines Google, Bing, Yahoo!, Wikipedia, Amazon, YouTube and Baidu are used to formulate ratings. Last year, C++ was the “fastest growing language at +1.48%. This year, Python has moved up the ladder according to the index:
“Python has never been so close to the number 1 position of the TIOBE index. It only needs to bridge 0.16% to surpass C. This might happen any time now. If Python becomes number 1, a new milestone has been reached in the TIOBE index. Only 2 other languages have ever been leading the pack so far, i.e. C and Java. Let’s see what happens next month.
Other interesting moves this month are: Assembly gained 1 position from #9 to #8, Ruby gained 2 positions from #15 to #13, and Go went up even 4 positions from #18 to #14. — Paul Jansen CEO TIOBE Software”
