LG and Qualcomm to Develop Next Generation Car Connectivity Technology

LG and QUALCOMM will jointly develop 5G and C-V2X (Cellular Vehicle-to-Everything) Technologies for future autonomous vehicles. The two companies will work together in a research center in South Korea.

The companies will both bring previous R&D experience, particularly in the 5G area. The 5G knowledge is essential for developing fully connected cars with connectivity,

“5 times faster with 10 times lower latency than the fastest LTE technology, 5G will be able to deliver data at the speeds necessary in a real life driving situation.”

The collaboration will help accelerate automotive communication technologies and advanced connected solutions from LTE to 5G. As Qualcomm vice president of product management, Nakul Duggal stated,

“with the automotive industry on a clear path to 5G, we look forward to working together with LG to meet the demands of today’s drivers and advance the commercialization of C-V2X technology in next-gen vehicles.”
