Tensor robocar, Image/Tensor
Touted as earth’s first personal robocar, Tensor Robocar is the only L4 autonomous vehicle you can own. Tensor is equipped with first-ever features including true L4 autonomy, AI agent, private AI, advanced sensors, and an onboard supercomputer. Tensor will be available to customers in 2026.
Tensor’s design goal is AI-first for autonomous driving capabilities:
Designed from the ground up with the capacity of a full-size SUV and the curves of a sports car, the Tensor is uniquely shaped to maximize sensor view coverage, drive comfort and handling. This luxury crossover SUV was optimized for a 0.253 air drag coefficient, giving it a high-energy efficiency.
Tensor Sensors
Tensor incorporates multiple lidars, radar, cameras, and mics to generate data and construct and interpret driving scenarios using 100+ advanced multi-modal sensors. Tensor traverses city streets, parks itself, or comes to pick you up with a tap or voice command when you don’t want to take the wheel.
In Level 4 mode, when driving in approved areas, supervision is not required. Whereas in other areas the driver can take the wheel or switch to assisted driving for a balance between autonomy and control. When tensor is in L4 mode, the stowable steering literally folds away so there are no moving parts in the driver’s seat. Folding pedals also contribute to transforming the driver’s seat into a roomy lounging area. Since Tensor handles the driving, tasks like video conferencing and meetings are possible.

Tensor features the world’s first fully redundant brake-by-wire and steer-by-wire system:
Our four-wheel steering, partnered with ZF, is fully electronic and unchained from mechanical systems, with the front-wheel steering and rear-wheel steering providing redundancy to each other.
Tensor has been fully tested for autonomous driving safety:
The Tensor was developed and tested in cities around the world. In California, the Tensor has been certified for L4 autonomous driving testing (no safety driver) since 2020 by the California DMV.
Tensor Interaction
Tensor’s AI Agent uses a natural language interface for you to exchange commands with the car. Commands like “open the door,” “close the trunk,” or to find a setting in the vehicle are fully understood by the car and more complex commands can be learned over time.
Body language such as palm activated door access and face recognition can also be use to access the car.
Another unique feature is Signal Screens featuring CarMoji:
The Tensor is the world’s first vehicle to use SignalScreens to communicate with others during autonomous driving. The four P1-grade RGB Mini-LED interactive displays use Carmojis™ to interact with other pedestrians and vehicles. Dynamic animations come to life signaling a welcome, the weather, battery status, safe pedestrian crossing and more.
The Tensor app can be used to call and text to pick you up at a certain time when needed.

Supercomputing Power
Equipped with over 8,000 Tera-Operations-Per-Second, or TOPS of GPU computing performance, Tensor is equipped with the world’s most powerful automotive supercomputer. Tensor’s supercomputer features eight powerful NVIDIA DRIVE AGX Thor SoCs based on the high performance Blackwell GPU architecture and safety-certified DriveOS.
If a rare event of a fault in the primary hardware occurs critical systems remain operational as a result of two additional layers of diverse, specialized automotive processors from Texas Instruments, NXP, and Renesas.
The Tensor Supercomputer incorporates 10 GPUs and 144 CPU cores and Digital Signal Processors and microcontrollers. It operates at over 53 Gigabits of sensor data per second. The durability and stability of the Tensor supercomputer is yet another outstanding feature of the car:
Tensor Supercomputer is meticulously engineered for long-term stability and automotive-grade reliability. Designed to endure 10 years or 180,000 miles of operation, it features advanced liquid thermal management that maintains peak performance. A dual-power architecture ensures continuous operation, with multiple external power sources providing full-stack redundancy for maximum functional safety.
Tensor Privacy
Compared to some other autonomous cars, Tensor excels with privacy adherence with ultimate privacy with end-to-end encryption, biometrics in TEE, passenger account access and analog privacy:
Unlike public vehicles (and even many of those that are privately owned) which know your location and monitor you through microphones and cameras, the Tensor actively safeguards your data.
