New research by Enhancv, a company which helps job seekers get hired at top companies, reveals male job seekers are more likely to use job searches via AI. The research suggests men are more likely to use “unproven methods and technologies, including AI to gain a competitive edge in the job market.” Another reason men use AI technology more than women is their access to information and resources about AI tools. Men are also more likely to work in technology related fields.
The Enhancv survey queried 600 job seekers and analyzed 26,192 user-generated resumes to analyze AI usage and opinions on its use. The survey was conducted through the online survey platform, Clickworker and was completed on June 16, 2024. Overall, 600 people completed the survey. More information was obtained by analyzing aggregated anonymized data from 26,192 users of Enhancv’s resume builder.
Overall, 61% of men used AI to write their resume in comparison to 45% of women. A total of 49% of survey participants actually used AI to write their resumes.
According to the survey, the findings indicate the following trends in AI usage in job searches:

- California and Texas are hotspots for job seeker AI use.
- Older workers and younger workers are equally likely to use AI to write their resumes.
