October 14, 2025 will be the last day Microsoft will offer support for Windows 10. Due to customers demanding more time to move from Windows 10 to Windows 11, Microsoft decided to extend Windows 10 security updates to October 13, 2026- a sigh of relief for many users.
The Extended Security Updates (ESU) program for Windows 10 offers customers security options for those who continue using their Windows 10 PCs after October 14, 2025 until they transition to Windows 11. The consumer ESU program is not available for commercial devices only personal use devices.
The ESU program keeps customers more safe than not having security updates:
The ESU program helps reduce the risk of malware and cybersecurity attacks by providing access to critical and important security updates as defined by the Microsoft Security Response Center (MSRC) for devices running Windows 10, version 22H2. ESU enrollment does not provide other types of fixes, feature improvements, or product enhancements. It also does not come with technical support.
