NBC Olympics has chosen Cisco for its “IP video contribution and distribution solutions, along with networking and security solutions” for the the XXIII Olympic Winter Games to be held February 8-25 in PyeongChang, South Korea.
For the rigors of live and file-based content production, Cisco incorporates a “resilient and highly dependable IP and compute environment.” Data center network security solutions, mobile collaboration solutions for remote and onsite production teams will also be available through Cisco.
The combine effort of Cisco and NBC provides a proving ground for new technologies as stated by Dan Robertson, Vice President, Olympics Information Technology, NBC Olympics:
“With each of these events, NBC Olympics incorporates more IP and cloud technology to simplify the delivery of live broadcast video, multi-gigabytes of streamed video to mobile devices, and hundreds of hours of on-demand content.”
