Available in four stylish colors, Warm White, Sunset Pink, Daylight Blue, and Spring Green, Samsung Electronics’ all-new Smart Monitor M8 redefines the smart TV experience with “seamless workspace connectivity and video chat functionality in one ‘do-it-all’ stylish screen” all without necessarily needing a PC or TV:
“First introduced in November 2020, Samsung’s Smart Monitors are the world’s first ‘do-it-all’ screens designed for modern-day users whose lifestyle needs include a product with both work functionality and entertainment at home.
Not only does it function as a traditional monitor, the M8 also allows users to enjoy a variety of OTT services, including Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, Disney+, and Apple TV via Wi-Fi without having to connect to a PC or TV. Samsung TV Plus also offers free live and on-demand content with no downloads or sign-up needed, while Universal Guide provides personalized content recommendations.”
The M8 exemplifies ultra-stylish design, actually a thin 11.4mm design and 75% slimmer than the previous. A flat-back design accentuates the M8’s thin stature.
The M8 can also remotely access another PC, use Microsoft 365 programs and connect to Samsung mobile devices with Samsung DeX. The USB Type-C port permits “power-up, transmit data, and even send display signals between devices with just one connection.” Users can connect all their IoT devices wirelessly via the IoT hub called SmartThings Hub.
Active presentation or live streaming is a snap with the M8’s magnetic and removable SlimFit Cam which facilitates face tracking and auto zoom functions. To enhance this functionality, the M8 supports video chat apps such as Google Duo:
“The monitor also supports video chat apps such as Google Duo, allowing users to work remotely or engage in video conferencing at home or in the workplace using the SlimFit Cam.”
The M8 features a high-sensitivity Far-Field Voice microphone which enables devices such as Bixby and Amazon Alexa to use voice commands.
The Smart Monitor M8 won CES Innovation Awards Honoree from the CTA (Consumer Technology Association) in recognition of a wide array of its display technologies. The M8 is available now for pre-order starting at $699.99 in 32-inches with UHD resolution and HDR10+, and includes a SlimFit Cam with face tracking and auto-zoom functions.
