With a "sustainable future" in mind, the Acer Aspire Vero National Geographic Edition (AV15-51R), is a special edition of its sustainable Acer Aspire Vero laptop. Every purchase of the sustainably-minded laptop benefits the U.S.-based global nonprofit National Geographic Society with its goals to protect our world through exploration, research, and education.
The Acer laptop availability will vary depending on country as CNET recently determined:
"Oddly, though, it won't immediately be available in the US. It is expected to be available in China this month followed by France in March. Acer also said it will be available in multiple countries across the Asia Pacific. Pricing in China will be 5,499 yuan and 899 euros in France, which converts to $1,015, £755 or AU$1,410."
The special edition Vero laptop is easily upgraded/repaired. The sustainable-focused laptop features 30% post-consumer recycled (PCR) plastic throughout its chassis and 50% PCR in its keycaps.
The special edition Vero laptop sustainable focus is enhanced by its novel packaging:
"Innovative packaging design protects the device without the need for anything but 85% recycled paper, plus a 100% industrial recycled plastic (PIR) laptop sleeve and an additional sheet of 100% PIR plastic that sits between the laptop’s display and keys."
Sustainability is not the only standout feature of the special edition Vero laptop:
"Powered by an 11th Gen Intel® Core™ processor with Intel® Iris® Xe graphics, the laptop’s lighter ecological footprint does not mean that it’s light on performance: It comfortably allows users to create, connect and collaborate. Users can enjoy Windows 11 right out of the box, while Wi-Fi 6 offers ultra-reliable connectivity. The user-experience is rounded out by a generous selection of ports, including USB Type-C and two USB 3.2 Gen1 Type-A ports, one of which can be used to charge mobile devices even when the computer is turned off."
The Vero entire lineup of products are "part of Acer’s 'Earthion' mission, a platform created to help tackle environmental challenges and push the industry in a greener direction."
