The new Apple Watch Series 2, primarily geared for users fitness and healthy lifestyle, is water resistant to 50 meters, has a built-in GPS, a dual-core processor, a more brighter display, simpler interaction with third party apps, enhanced Apple Pay® integration and improved notifications.

Apple has developed algorithms for swimmers seeking to determine caloric and performance output where Apple Watch Series 2 can "count laps, track average lap pace and auto-detect stroke type to accurately measure active calorie burn." Users no longer need an iPhone for GPS since now it is built-in and "records precise distance, pace and speed for outdoor workouts such as walking, running or cycling."

As for the tech specs, Apple Watch processing speed has increased by 50 percent by using the new second generation S2 chip. The GPU graphics capabilities is two times better. The watch has a display is that is two times brighter than previous models. Some of the performance attributes of the Apple Watch, operating system, watchOS 3 is to launch apps immediately via the watch face or new Dock which includes the latest updated information. The Activity app's actions have changed as well with the ability to "share, compare and compete, keeping friends and family motivated." Wheelchair users also have more personally tailored Activity rings and workouts.

The Apple Watch Series 2 comes in lightweight aluminum or stainless steel cases with assorted band colors. The Apple Watch Edition includes the Apple Watch Series 2 features and a scratch resistance white ceramic case. The Apple Watch Series 1 includes features of the original Apple Watch and comes in lightweight aluminum.
