In Moses Lake, Washington, U.S, Eviation Aircraft, an all-electric aircraft manufacturer, successfully completed the first flight of its Alice aircraft. The flight is a significant achievement for the aircraft which flight was conducted at the Grant County International Airport (MWH). Alice produces zero carbon emissions, is quieter, and costs less to operate per flight hour in contrast to light jets or high-end turboprops.

Alice’s flight lasted for 8 minutes and reached an altitude of 3,500 feet. The aircraft flight data will help contribute to future commercial production:

Targeted for commuter and cargo markets and ranging from 150 miles to 250 miles the all-electric aircraft is more more economically and environmentally sustainable for businesses and consumers:

“This new generation of aircraft has the power to transform communities by providing access to airports not currently used by commercial flights due to noise concerns or restricted operating hours.”

Cape Air and Global Crossing Airlines have already placed orders for 75 and 50 Alice aircraft respectively. DHL Express has purchased 12 Alice eCargo planes. The all-electric Alice aircraft features a max operating speed of 260 knots and a max useful load of 2,500 lbs for passenger version and 2,600 lbs for eCargo version:

“Alice is available in three variants including a nine-passenger commuter, an elegant and sophisticated six-passenger executive cabin, and an eCargo version. All configurations support two crew members. The executive cabin and eCargo variations are identical to the commuter configuration, except for the interior.”

Alice is powered by two magni650 electric propulsion units from magniX. Other key Alice suppliers include AVL (battery support), GKN (wings), Honeywell (advanced fly-by-wire system, flight controls and avionics), Multiplast (fuselage), Parker Aerospace (six technology systems), and Potez (doors). Alice’s advanced battery system is highly efficient and upgradeable. The aircraft utilyzes fly-by-wire cockpit for greater reliability and systems redundancy.
