Motorola Solutions Acquires Kodiak Networks

Motorola Solutions (NYSE: MSI) recently completed acquisition of Kodiak Networks, headquartered in Plano, Texas, “a privately held provider of broadband push-to-talk (PTT) for commercial customers.”

Kodiak Networks, founded in 2001, offers a cloud-based PTT solution and management platform, aligning with mobile network operators worldwide to bring “clear, reliable, instant performance over 4G LTE, Wi-Fi, and 3G networks.”

The acquisition will bolster Motorola Solutions’ existing mission-critical WAVE PTT portfolio by adding Kodiak’s carrier-integrated PTT-over-cellular solution. Known as WAVE, it connects disparate networks to enable communication between smartphones, radios and computers via wireless or wireline broadband. Mobile network operators will benefit from Kodiak’s broadband PTT software now a part of Motorola Solutions.
