Visual Studio 2017 Update Available

Thanks to power users feedback coming from the Windows Insider Program, the new high end edition of Windows 10 Pro will come "with unique support for server grade PC hardware and is designed to meet demanding needs of mission critical and compute intensive workloads." Increasing performance and reliability is the goal of Windows 10 Pro for Workstations. Available this fall, the Windows 10 Pro for Workstations will be part of the Fall Creators Update.

The advanced features of Windows 10 Pro consists of the following: ReFS (Resilient file system) "provides cloud-grade resiliency for data on fault-tolerant storage spaces and manages very large volumes with ease." ReFS also prevents data corruption, is optimized for handling large data volumes and is auto-correcting. Persistent memory in the form of non-volatile memory modules (NVDIMM-N) hardware, is another important feature: "NVDIMM-N enables you to read and write your files with the fastest speed possible, the speed of the computer’s main memory."

Faster file sharing is achieved through SMB Direct, which uses a mechanism called Remote Direct Memory Access (RDMA) capability where "network adapters that have RDMA can function at full speed with very low latency, while using very little CPU." Expanded hardware support is another significant feature of the Windows 10 Pro update. High performance machines are now included in the mix: Devices with High performance configurations including server grade Intel Xeon or AMD Opteron processors, with up to 4 CPUs (today limited to 2 CPUs) and add massive memory up to 6TB (today limited to 2TB)" will now have hardware support
